Bear Lake Triathlon/Duathlon

Welcome to the 2012 Grand Haven Bone & Joint Bear Lake Triathlon, formerly known as Block – 58 Triathlon. This event takes place on Sunday June 24, 2012 at 8:00AM. This USA Triathlon sanctioned event offers an olympic distance triathlon, sprint distance triathlon and a sprint distance duathlon. Relay teams are also invited to participate in any of the events. All three events will take place at Bear Lake Park which is located behind the North Muskegon High School in North Muskegon, Mi.

The swim portion will take place in Bear Lake with a beach start. The bike will take athletes out north of the City on smooth county roads and return to the City of North Muskegon. As a USAT sanctioned event, certified course marshalls will be on the bike course to enforce drafting rules. The run takes athletes through the scenic, residential area of North Muskegon where volunteers and spectators will cheer and encourage athletes along the way. The distances for the events are as follows:

    Olympic Course Triathlon: 1500 meter swim / 40 – K bike / 10 – K run
    Sprint Course Triathlon: 750 meter swim / 20 – K bike / 5 – K run
    Sprint Course Duathlon: 5 – K run / 20 – K bike / 5 – K run

A pre race expo will take place at North Muskegon High School on Saturday, June 23, 2012 from 3:00PM to 6:00PM. Athletes and family can visit with event sponsors and vendors. Packet pick up, body marking and late registration will also take place at the expo.

We are excited to host this event in beautiful North Muskegon. We are grateful for the support of the City of North Muskegon, Mayor Chris Witham, North Muskegon Fire and Police Departments, Muskegon County Sheriff Department and all of the other groups and agencies. We also want to say a special thanks to Dr. Dirk Bakker of Grand Haven Bone & Joint as our title sponsor and all of our other sponsors. Please go to the Sponsor page and click on their logos for additional information of their services. This event would not be possible without the support of all these agencies, groups and sponsors. We look forward to seeing you at this great event.

Respectfully,
Ron Knoll, USA Triathlon Certified Race Director
